The Khan Mohammed Mridha Mosque is located in Old Dhaka, a half-km west of Lalbagh Fort. The mosque was constructed in 1704-5, during Khan Mohammed's time as the Deputy Governor of Dhaka. It is even conjectured that Mohammed personally drew the architectural plans for the mosque. The mosque is elevated on a 16-foot platform - 6 feet above ground-level. Beneath this platform are the vaulted rooms of the Tehkhana, consisting of 25 steps. Here is where people would live.
The mosque is a rectangular structure capped with three domes, with the central dome being the largest. The minarets in the corner are slender and capped with ribbed copulas. The prayer hall is supported by multi-cusped arches and columns.
