Saigon Central Post Office is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the city. The charming colonial architecture and ornate decorations make the place the backdrop of many exciting pictures. Built between 1886 and 1891 by renowned architect Gustave Eiffel, it is a beautiful remnant of Vietnam’s complicated history. The post office is still functioning. Tourists are encouraged to send a letter or postcard from here and to be a part of this history. Experience the vaulted roof; arched windows are reminiscent of early European railway stations. An enormous picture of Ho Chi Minh, working phone booths and the beautiful hand-painted maps on either side of the interior walls that depict Saigon and the surrounding area in 1892, are notable attractions in here. Stalls are present here to sell the usual memorabilia, along with "Tintin in Vietnam" covers.
You may take the bus no. 150 and then either bus 14 or 45 to reach the place. Cabs are a comfortable option, but as the roads here are often clogged with traffic, it is better to rent a motorcycle to arrive at this place. It is 10.2 km from the city center.
