Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts is a major art museum of Vietnam, second only to the museum in Hanoi. It holds a massive collection of domestic and international artworks from several periods. The place was originally a mansion of a Chinese during colonial time and after that for Mr. Hoa, the wealthiest man of Saigon of the time. The building that houses the museum is considered a masterpiece itself; the yellow-white grand colonial-era mansion is a combination of French and Chinese architectural styles. The tri-floor castles of the museum house collection are featuring Vietnamese artworks in sculpture, oil, silk painting, and lacquer painting, as well as traditional styles including woodcut paintings, Vietnamese ceramics works and a collection of ancient Buddhist art. The exhibits also include a commercial gallery of artworks and archaeological exhibits such as some of the country's best Champa and Óc Eo relics etc. It's a perfect place to relax and learn about the history of Vietnamese art culture.
