Notre Dame Cathedral is one of the oldest Catholic Churches in Vietnam; it is also one of the prominent attractions of the city. It is strategically located in Paris square, surrounded by several French colonial architectural marvels. In 1962, it received the basilica status. It is still a major religious institution to the local Catholic Christian population. The cathedral is almost 60 meters in height, and its distinctive neo-Romanesque features include the imported all-red brick facade, stained glass windows, two bell towers containing six bronze bells. The Virgin Mary statue in front of the cathedral is part of several local lore and myths.
To reach the place in a budget option, you will need to board bus no. 150 and then either bus no. 14, 45 or 19 followed by walking. You may book a cab, but that will take more time to reach as the place is situated in a tourist-favourite zone. It is 10 km from the city center.
