Bến Thành Market is one of the oldest structures found in the city area; it is an integrated part of it and is a large marketplace in central Ho Chi Minh City in District 1. The market is one of the earliest surviving structures in Saigon and an important symbol of the City. Its origin can be traced back to the early seventeenth century, on the bank of the Saigon river. Enjoy the local handicrafts, textiles, ao dai, and souvenirs, and relish the local cuisine. There are shops selling memorabilia and branded goods, but you have to drive a hard bargain to get things cheap here. The street-style foods which cooked in front of you are the major attraction after sunset. You should head to the market early in the morning to pick up some bargains including lacquer ware, bamboo goods, arts and crafts, textiles, watches and an assortment of electronic products. So get the bag and purse out, because it's the haven for shopping lovers.
Rent a car to reach the place by Cong Hoa within 35 minutes. You may also opt for public transport by bus no. 150, 42 or 54 to reach this place. It is 10.5 km from the city center.
