Fondly referred to as the Getty, the J. Paul Getty Museum consists of the Getty Villa and the Getty Center, both of which house one of the most stunning art collections around the world. It is famous for its crisp, magnificent manicured gardens, and its vibrant heritage of housing stunning antiques, impressive decorative works of arts, and age-old manuscripts. The Getty also provides a hypnotizing view of the city from its place atop a hill that is approximately 900 feet above sea level.
While the special exhibits, which are often produced thanks to collaborations and loans from around the world, change from time to time, the Getty always boasts some of the most amazing collection of European and American artworks from medieval times to present, making the four pavilions of the Getty a must-see for art lovers and historians alike. Currently, the Renaissance Nude exhibit features works by Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Dürer. The magnificent architecture and the breathtaking views of the surrounding area from up above the Santa Monica hills are really spectacular, and a draw to any who find themselves in LA.
