About Natural History Museum, LA

The biggest natural museum in the western United States, the Natural History Museum has three floors dedicated to permanent exhibits, which include such wonders as dinosaurs, animal habitats, and the geological world. Whether you're awestruck by the vast size of the extinct species or are running your hands over such gems as rubies and sapphires, the Natural History Museum is a must stop for any curious minds - young or old!  You can get a chance to see and touch the magnificent specimens presented in the Mineral and Gem Hall, especially rubies, sapphires, and other gems.

By Train:

You can take the trains that run every day from 5:00 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. 

You can also take the expo Line from outside the Natural History Museum

  • The Museum is a large place, consider taking Discovery Guide
  • Make sure you have a museum map and tick whenever you complete visiting
  • Some of the big galleries can be chilly, take an extra layer of warm clothes
  • Galleries involving insects such as spiders and butterflies may be seasonal, so check before you go
  • Avoid taking any food inside the museum galleries to maintain cleanliness
  • There are eating tables available outdoor near the rose garden at Exposition Park
  • Avoid smoking in the Museum and its camps to maintain the healthful environment
  • The crowd is less before 10:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday and in the afternoon on weekdays
