Sandwich - Delicious Ingredient Nine (not quite)
A rugby match in Chile never happened. Instead, Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 flying to Chile with Uruguay's rugby players, their friends, and family crashed in the Andes. Twenty-nine people died instantly. Only 16 survived freezing weather conditions without food and proper clothing to come back alive, providing inspiration for books and the film "Alive". This museum is dedicated to those who lost their lives in a tragedy documented in minute detail within the museum's walls. Artifacts and paraphernalia from the crash site have been displayed. The museum curator shows visitors around personally, describing the facts. The museum staff is knowledgable, multilingual, and exceptionally friendly. For a very high profile crash, like many others, which have happened all over the world, this incident is the only one, which is so well documented and maintained. This building is the ultimate tribute to one of the greatest stories of survival in human history.
