Distinctive sulfur crystals and unbelievable hot springs make the Yangmingshan National Park a very popular tourist destination in Taipei. Formerly called the Grass mountain because of the absence of trees over a vast area, the park was constructed as the summer home for Chiang Kai-Shek, the former president, and later was converted into a historic site. With an exquisite variety of flora here, the place is a favorite for plant lovers. The sulfur deposits emit a rotten smell that gets imbibed as one follows the beautiful trail towards the mountain top. The national park covers a massive area but proper maps and signage make strolling around easy and accessible. The cherry blossom trees found all across the mountain give the place a natural vintage touch. The scintillating natural beauty mingled with special gifts of nature makes this place a visitors' paradise.
