A multipurpose educational, social and cultural hub of the city located in the Xinyi district of Taipei is the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall. It was constructed in the memory of the Republic of China's National Father, Dr. Sun Yat-sen, and was completed in the year 1972. The massive library inside the monument has more than three hundred thousands of books and serves the purpose of bringing various cultures, traditions, and knowledge to one common platform. The interior of the monument is carved to depict the life of the sun and the effects of its revolutions. Another irresistible feature here is the Chung Shan Garden. The garden is home to an innumerable species of flowers from all over the world. The memorial hall is also a center of performing arts. Here you can see the many theatrical programs taking place. These performances aim to spread and propagate Taipei's culture and art to people coming from all over the world.
