About Jiufen

Called the 'city of sadness' due to the atrocities committed here as part of the gold rush during the 1890s, Jiufen is a beautiful mountain town in the east of Taipei. The buildings and structures in the city reflect the influence and inspiration from Japanese culture and architecture. Charming old, rustic villages around and not to forget the vintage feel of the city, all together can transform one into the old golden era.
