Tips

  • Being stared at and photographed if you are a woman - and especially if you are very obviously a Westerner. Bikinis will make this worse still.
  • Having your possessions stolen from the beach whilst you’re in the sea - this is very rare, but it does happen occasionally.
  • Rubbish/trash, which is increasing here all the time, sadly.
  • Unscrupulous fishermen who renege on agreed prices for boat rides.
  • Great scenery and fairly decent snorkeling opportunities.
  • Some interesting old ruins next to the beach.
  • Nice rocks and cliffs to hike along and explore.
  • Generally calm and clear waters.
  • Proximity to the Shangri-La and Al Bustan hotels and the Oman Dive Centre.
  • There is a small kiosk next to the parking area, which is useful for drinks and basic snacks.
  • Toilets are also available but try and avoid using them.
