About Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya

The MNAC (Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya) is an iconic museum that unfolds before you a fascinating artistic journey from the best Romanesque collection of mural paintings, to Gothic, modern and 20th-century art. It is a clear example of the Beaux-Arts style of architecture. The holdings of Romanesque and Gothic art illustrate the splendor and the peak of Catalan territorial expansion in Mediterranean Europe at the time.

Explore the incredible art, photography, drawings, prints and posters, and the Catalan Numismatic Department. The museum has an enormous collection that showcases art from the late 19th to the early 20th centuries, mainly comprising exhibitions of works by Catalan artists, in a number of genre and styles, especially, the Catalan Modernist style, Art Nouveau movements of modernism, Noucentisme, and the Avant-Garde.
