About Barcelona Cathedral

Barcelona Cathedral is a famous example of 15th-century Catalan Gothic architecture. Under the high altar is Saint Eulalia’s crypt, where a young Christian woman was tortured to death for defending her faith. The significance of this cathedral lies in the fact that it is the lone cathedral of Barcelona.

It can be a history buff's delight to see the fine Gothic architecture and Roman walls. The choir is one of the most special areas in the Cathedral, with a beautiful set of carved wooden chairs. Take an elevator to the rooftop to get a magnificent view of the city. The Cathedral is known for its 14th-century cloister full of palm trees and a Gothic portico where the mysterious 13 geese, representing Saint Eulalia, are said to wander.
