Designed by Jean-Baptiste Le Blond, the Grand Palace at Peterhof shines with elegance and majesty. It was meant to be Peter the Great’s “Russian Versaille”, who abandoned the project halfway through until his daughter Elizabeth took over the throne and completed the building. Majestic and greatly influenced by the baroque style, the Grand Palace is a majestic space filled with intricate designs as lavish on the inside and the outside, including magnificent frescoes and gilded statues that visitors will get to see during their visit.
The Peterhof Grand Palace is one of the most outstanding historical and architectural monuments of Europe. It is one of Russia's most beautiful attractions. You can see the world's largest system of fountains that run without the need for pumps, they are active in the park from late May to October. The palace and park at Peterhof (also known as Petrodvorets) are often called as "the Russian Versailles." Once a formal garden built for Peter the Great, this park still has more than 80 of the original marble sculptures and houses the exquisite Peter's Summer Palace. The other buildings constitute an astounding landscape which takes you back to the times of European Emperors and royal families.
