The second-largest museum in the world, the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg is a must see when in the city. It houses the largest collection of paintings in the world including masterpieces by Rembrandt, Picasso, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, Monet, Titian, Matisse amongst others. Six historic and magnificent buildings make up the Hermitage complex with the main building being the Winter Palace. The General Staff Building, Museum of Porcelain, the Menshikov Palace, and the Storage Facility at Staraya Derevnya are also part of the Hermitage. The museum has a collection of 3 million masterpieces and invaluable sculptures, crystal, porcelain, jewellery, engravings, antiques, modern art, weapons, coins and rare books.
