Built in the 17th Century, the Wazir Khan Mosque is a true architectural masterpiece and a marvel to behold in the truest sense of the word. The mosque is built totally of bricks that were made up of a mixture of red sandstone and kankar lime. The popularity of this monument does not merely come from the fact that it is of religious significance, but the mosque also happens to be famous because of its historical significance. The mosque was built under the Emperor Shah Jahan's rule. The construction work was so vast that it was said the completion of the mosque took close to 7 years i.e. from the year 1634 to the year 1641. Its “kashi kari” i.e. marble work is extremely popular famous due to which the monument has pretty much become the most ornate one in the world as well. The beautiful mosque consists of 5 domes and 4 minarets. Apart from that, the mosque also has a number of baths and other areas within itself.
