To come face to face with the beautiful history of the region, a visit to Delhi Gate in Lahore itself is more than enough. Built in the Mughal era when India stood undivided, Delhi Gate used to be one of the many gates of the then walled city of Lahore. The main reason the monument got its name is that it was built in the East direction which pointed towards Delhi. It has now been renamed as the Chitta Gate. The famous Zamzama Gun was initially placed here before being moved to Lahore Museum that is its current home. After extensive restoration, Delhi Gate has been restored to its original glory and is among the most visited landmarks in the city. Another thing that everyone needs to witness is when Delhi Gate is illuminated during the night time.
