Built under the supervision of Faqir Azizuddin, the garden was built to pay homage to the traditional Mughal style layout. Once the garden was built and completed to the satisfaction of Ranjit Singh, it is said that he, at the suggestion of Jamadar Khushhal Singh, ended up ordering that all the marbles that had been vandalized in the various mausoleums across the city, be used to construct pavilion of sorts inside the park itself. This specific job was handed over to Khalifa Nooruddin. Thanks to his brilliant eye, the pavilion of Baradari now stands on elegantly carved marble pillars, which support its beautifully cusped arches. Other than this, the area in the center where Ranjit Singh usually held court, has a beautiful mirrored ceiling.
