About Xoximilco

Xoximilco was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its cultural contribution to the world. Visitors can enjoy Mexican music, food, and culture on board "trajineras", traditional Mexican Gondolas, that cruise along Cancun’s beautiful canals while they enjoy a delicious dinner with drinks of local flavours and see or join the people dancing and singing along to mariachi and other live music bands. This party starts after sunset and provides a great opportunity for visitors to blend with Mexican culture and see the beautiful landscapes of the Mayan jungle and its beautiful natural surroundings.   • See the beautiful islands along the scenic Cancun canals at night on a traditional Mexican Gondola boat.

  • This is a place where you should go on a busy day. You will have plenty of fun with the crowd.
  • Bring your own toilet paper.
  • You will be on board and in the middle of the water, so plan your bathroom visit accordingly. 
  • The temperature in Mexico changes abruptly, so keep a sweater even if it is not cold.
  • Make sure to wear shoes which are not slippery. There will be water in the boat. 

How to reach

Xoximilco is located in the state of Quintana Roo on the Cancun-Chetumal Highway near Cancun International Airport.  From the Cancun Hotel Zone, you can reach Xoximilco by taxi or by purchasing the Xoximilco tour package which includes transportation.

Bus: $324 - $780

Taxi: from Mérida to Xoximilco One-Way from: $1100 - $1400 MXN

Tips

  • The transportation from the hotel is included in the ticket.
  • Wearing comfortable clothes and shoes are recommended.
  • There are no restrooms on the boat. However, there are bathroom stops at one-hour intervals. It may be difficult for visitors with children.
  • Food and drinks are also included in the ticket.
