Feel the cold mountain air on your face as you fly around the Medeu. This outdoor speed skating and the bandy rink is nestled atop the mountains just outside of Almaty, Kazakhstan.
Test your endurance in the high altitude, 1,691 m above sea level. Over 10,000 square meters of ice is open day and night. If you go at night you can skate to the music and lights. Or, you can get your blood pumping in a different way. Join the Almaty International Medeu Marathon and run up and back down the mountain for this competition.
It’s not all an adrenaline rush at Medeu. You can also explore any of the hiking trails from the Medeu. They will take you through scenic mountain areas, hot springs, and even a set of wooden swings.

Wondering how can you reach Medeo Gondola Station or Medeo Ski link, you can take the number 12 bus.
This bus travels along Dostyk Avenue starting near the intersection of Dostyk and Abay Avenue. You have to wait at the bus stop opposite the Kazakhstan Hotel for bus number 12 it costs you 151 KZT. If you travel via a bus, Line 10 bus takes 17 hours 26 minutes and costs you 15,004.6 KZT to 16,543.6 KZT.
If you take a train to Medeo it takes 14 hours and costs you 14,619.9 KZT to 30,778.7 KZT.
If you drive from Astana to Medeo it takes 17 hours 18 minutes.
