Yes, Venice has plenty of churches, but don't skip the less-visited Basilica dei Frari. Built in Gothic style by the Franciscans between 1338 and 1438, don't be deceived by the church's understated look. This church is home to some of the finest artwork in Italy.
Titian's 'Assunta' and 'Madonna di Ca' Pesaro' - two of his important works - are here. Interestingly, the celebrated Venetian 16th-century painter is also interred in the building. Bellini's 'Madonna and Child Enthroned with Four Saints' is also quite splendid. The exquisite wood carvings of choir stalls are no less spectacular.
The church's campanile is the second highest in Venice.
Venetian Renaissance masterpieces from painters Titian, Bellini, Donatello and Wood carvings.
