About Wailing Wall (Western Wall)

The Wailing Wall, also known as The Western Wall, Kotel, or the Buraq Wall, is an ancient wall made out of limestone and decors the beautiful old city of Jerusalem. This wall has religious significance for the people because of its connection to the Temple Mount. The holiest site in the Jewish faith lies behind the limestone structure where the Jews gather to pray and worship. The name, ‘Wailing Wall’ has been accorded to this structure in reference to the old Jewish practice of weeping at the site over the destruction of the temples.
