About Old City of Jerusalem

The old city of Jerusalem is a 0.9 square kilometer walled area lying within the modern city. Till the year 1860, the walled area comprises of the entire city of Jerusalem. Today, the old city is home to some of the most important religious and historic sites such as The Temple Mount, Western Wall, The Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Dome of the Rock, and al-Aqsa Mosque. This site was added to the UNESCO World Heritage Site list in 1981.

How to reach

Take Egged Bus 8, 38 to reach the Jaffa Gate bus stop. Walk for 5 minutes to enter the Old City of Jerusalem. 
The Tourist Bus 99 also stops at the Jaffa Gate bus stop. Walk for 5 minutes to enter the Old City of Jerusalem. 
Take a Taxi to reach the Old City. 

Tips

  • The Old City has eight entrance gate. The Jaffa Gate is the main entrance gate.
  • Allocate yourself some time to explore the Old City and the history around it. 
  • Visit all the adjoined attractions.
  • You can take a guided tour.
  • Take your camera with you while visiting this picturesque place.
