About Tower of David

Also known as the Jerusalem Citadel, the Tower of David is an ancient Citadel located in the heart of the old city near the Jaffa Gate entrance to the western edge of Jerusalem. The structure dates back to the Mamluk and Ottoman periods. The Citadel is surrounded by a series of ancient fortifications belonging to the Hasmonean, Herodian era, Byzantine and early Muslim periods. Important 2000 years old archaeological finds adorn the place, including a quarry dated to the First Temple period. Presently, the site is a popular venue for organizing benefit events, craft shows, concerts, and sound-and-light performances.
