About Jewish Quarter, Jerusalem

The Jewish populated quarter is one of the four quarters of the old city of Jerusalem that houses nearly 2000 Jews in total. It stretches for a total area of 116,000 square meters and extends from the Zion Gate in the south to the Street of the Chan in the north, along the Armenian Quarter in the west to the Western Wall and the Temple Mount in the east. In the early 20th Century, the Jewish population of this quarter reached the whopping figure of 19000. This quarter is home to numerous Synagogues and Yeshivas. The Hurva Synagogue is the most notable one which suffered destruction multiple times and was restored again in 2010.
