Being the only surviving Gothic town hall in Europe and the oldest town hall in the Baltic and Scandinavia region, the Tallinn Townhall was completed by the early 15th century. The weather vane of Old Thomas that adorns the top of the town hall tower was added in 1530 and is iconic to Tallinn. The tower itself measures 64 meters in height. The highlight of the town hall is when it is hosting elaborate events. The architecture of the town hall truly takes center stage with gargoyles that adorn its walls and high arched entrances. Evenings illuminate the building and multiply its rustic beauty. This beautiful historic square has served as a marketplace since the eleventh century and features a pharmacy that has been operating since 1422. Attractive center in the Old Town which experiences top tourists each year provide you with a package of fun, shopping and eating places. The Town Hall presides over one side and its colorfully varied buildings run around the other three sides. There are coffee houses, one of the World's oldest pharmacies and a couple of bars and restaurants. The cobbled square can be really sloppy in the icy winter!
