The Lennusadam Seaplane Harbour occupies one of the most popular Maritime museums in Europe. The Museum is housed in a historic early 20th-century building, originally designed as a hanger for seaplanes. The museum takes shelter in a unique seaplane hangar with an architectural structure of ‘Peter the Great Naval Fortress’ incorporated in the construction. Standing on a strategic outcrop of the rock in the Gulf of Finland, the structure comprises three vast, interconnected concrete domes; each large enough to house an aircraft. The submarine - the museum’s prize exhibit, is a minnow in this vast, sparsely-lit cave.
The exhibits take the spotlight with 1930’s submarine Lembit, icebreaker Suur Toll that has a century’s history to its credit, historic seaplanes, wooden ships, and other rare artifacts. The museum also has a range of activities including taking photos in naval uniforms, experiencing simulators and making precision paper planes - perfect for a ‘day-out’ activity with children! And while you are here, take a glance at one among the nicest memento outlets in the capital of Estonia or eat native food at our building MARU.
