About Kumu Art Museum

Kumu, the headquarter of the Art Museum of Estonia is the largest and most impressive exhibition venue in Estonia. A multifunctional contemporary art museum which exhibits the world’s largest collection of Estonian art, it comprises of about 60,000 works of arts. It stands as a beautiful museum in a beautifully designed building. The permanent exhibition gives you a very good impression of the numerous historical and political changes in Estonia. This museum also offers you its permanent collection of Latvian Art since the 18th Century, introducing you to the finest of unheard artists. Graphic Arts and regular temporary exhibitions are generally worth viewing and very well represented and displayed. You could treat yourself wonderfully in a Cafe inside the museum that offers both, indoor and outdoor seatings, serving tea, cakes, and various savory dishes.

How to reach

It is 5.8 km away from the Tallinn City Center.

You can reach there by Tram or by Bus.

By tram 

  • Kopli – Balti Station – Hobujaama (city centre, near the Viru Centre) – Kadriorg*: No. 1
  • Tondi – Vabaduse Square (city centre) – Hobujaama (near the Viru Centre) – Kadriorg*: No. 3

By bus

  • Bus Terminal at the Viru Shopping Centre – J. Poska: No. 1a, 8, 19, 29, 34a, 35, 38, 44, 51

Tram and Bus Fare: 2 Euros Single Ride.

Tips

  • At 3:00 they allow people on the roof which is normally closed. You can get some nice views there.
  • The cafe can suddenly get quite crowded, so if you see a long line, come back in half an hour.
  • Don't get upset when it's raining; this usually occurs in the afternoon, the sun will come out again, soon.
  • Do carry the must-have items; umbrella and sunglasses. 
  • Tickets may be purchased until 30 minutes before the museum closes.
  • Arrive early to avoid the rush.
  • You can take as many photos as you want.
