About Westminster Abbey

Westminster Abbey was founded by Benedictine monks in 960 AD. A World Heritage Site, this majestic cathedral has been the place for every coronation since William the Conqueror's coronation in 1066. It has also hosted 16 royal weddings. Built in a Gothic style, the Abbey has a marvelous collection of art and artifacts. It is also the final resting place of 17 monarchs, eight prime ministers, and several great writers such as Charles Dickens, Rudyard Kipling, and Thomas Hardy.
