About Tower Bridge

London is filled with many world-famous monuments, Tower Bridge is one of them. It was built 124 years ago, the bridge is built in the Victorian-Gothic style, it is 800-ft in length with two 213-ft tall towers linked together by high walkways. Visitors can marvel at the famous Victorian engine rooms housing the steam engines which once raised and lowered the central portion of the bridge to allow river traffic to pass through. Another popular attraction is the glass door, from where a visitor can enjoy stunning views of the world below. The bridge, currently used by over 40,000 motorists and pedestrians, is a true engineering marvel. Tower Bridge is a combination of a bascule and suspension bridge situated in London. It was built between 1886 and 1894. The bridge is built across the River Thames, close to the Tower of London and has become an iconic symbol of London. Tower Bridge is confused with London Bridge, it is situated some 0.5 mi upstream. The bridge deck is freely accessible to both vehicles and pedestrians, whereas the bridge's twin towers, high-level walkways, and Victorian engine rooms form part of the Tower Bridge Exhibition, for which an admission fee has to be paid.
