Located in Maksimir Park, in Zagreb, this 7-hectare-zoo is a place of wonder and discovery. Home to exotic species, this animal-friendly zoo will keep you busy and catch your attention in every corner of its space. Despite this relatively small size of the Zagreb zoo, animals remain the main focus and therefore the construction of a quality environment is what the establishment strives for. Come and experience the beautiful feeling of being immersed in rare animals' habitat and be a guest in a world that is nothing less than perfect to them.
Established in 1925, Zagreb's zoo is the oldest zoological park in southern Europe. Kids enjoy visiting the park and it's a refreshing change from churches and other heritage destinations. The zoo has 275 species including a rare snow leopard and red panda. Exploring the entire park isn't very tiring on foot, as it only takes 3 hours. There is a very nice restaurant inside the zoo which has an awesome kids menu as well. Various animals that can be spotted in the zoo are:
You can even adopt an animal here. The animal remains in their custody though, but you can get a picture with it and your name would be mentioned on their official website. The zoo is home to many species of plants as well. In the garden, there are several different types of edible fruits which are fed to the birds and various forest animals.
