Built in 1266, Lotrščak Tower is Zagreb’s defence tower which was built to withstand a Turkish invasion. It is also one of the oldest towers standing in Zagreb. The cannon is fired every day at noon and the locals enjoy this traditional custom even today. The name of the tower means "a thief's bell" as it used to be rung every night before the gates closed. The top of the tower gives you a beautiful view of the entire city. The art gallery and shops located within the premises offer a variety of souvenirs, books, art, and unique jewellery.
The tower is accessible on foot from Zagreb's Ban Jelačić Square. You could also take a ride with on the shortest funicular in the world.
