Designed by Herman Bollé, Mirogoj cemetery has a beautiful majestic arcade topped by a string of cupolas. It is one of the top attractions in Zagreb. It is not only a cemetery but also an art gallery. The architecture is fantastic and it is a visual treat for art lovers. While you take a walk, you can see works of numerous artists:
This cemetery is a final resting place for people from all religions. Although a cemetery, this is not an ordinary graveyard. Laid out in 1876, the 7-acre plot is renowned as one of Europe’s most beautiful cemeteries, it has a grand 500-meter long neo-renaissance arcade, set against the dramatic backdrop of Mount Medvednica. Read the inscriptions on the ornate tombstones and you’ll recognize the names of several prominent artists, politicians, and soldiers of Croatia.
You can ride in an Uber or taxi which would cost around 50 Kn.
Bus: You can hop on the bus N°106 from the Cathedral of Assumption to Mirogoj cemetery. The bus ride costs around 4kn and takes around 15 minutes.
