Sponza Palace is a true combination of Gothic and Renaissance styles. It was a project by the talented head engineer of the Dubrovnik Republic, Paskoje Milicevic. This extravagant beauty confirms its originality and its distinctive construction. The exceptionally harmonic architecture of this palace resembles lace cast in stone. The intention for the palace was originally only for the trading of goods brought here from all corners of the world by the traders who were to be taxed. It is also famous for surviving the earthquake. It stood strong, etched in time, to prove to us all what lavish palaces of Dubrovnik are made of.
