About Dubrovnik Cable Car

Dubrovnik is famous for its stunning attractions and numerous points of visual interest. What could be better other than enjoying it all via a cable car? The Dubrovnik Cable Car will take you on a scenic ride to the majestic Mount Srjd, covering a distance of 778 meters from the lower station to the upper station in a little over four minutes. You can enjoy the view of the Old City on the two cabins that hold as many as 30 people each. On a ride, you will see the Adriatic Sea and the neighbouring islands. There's also a 120-seat amphitheatre at the upper station where special events are frequently held. It's a great place to have corporate luncheons, family picnics, and more organized gatherings as its a great venue for enjoying the magnificent outdoors in the company of friends or family. There is also a good fine dining eatery arranged named Panorama which is located nearby, and it offers a wide variety of Mediterranean fare.

How to reach

  • You can reach the Cable Car from Dubrovnik Old Town First from Pile or Ploče gates. It is an 8 to 12-minute walk around/behind city walls There are pedestrian sidewalks from Ploče or Pile gates to lower station. The path is not very steep with a few stairs, so it is quite easy to walk towards Cable Car.
  • A quicker way is by walking up the stairs which takes about 5 to10 minutes from Stradun (towards Buža Gate), and from there it takes just a minute across the parking lot towards stairs below cable car, but it has a lot of steep stairs.
  • Also for visitors who are coming from a cruise ship docked in Dubrovnik Port the easiest way to reach the Cable Car is by local bus # 8 or taxi. It is walking distance from the Port of Gruž to Ploče where the lower station of the Cable Car is located is circa 4.5 km (uphill & downhill).

Tips

  • Cable Car hours change depending on the month of the year especially during winters it may not function due to adverse weather for a short period.
  • Keep your phones ready to take the best shots of stunning views from the top. 
  • For your convenience, there's something called Steora, which are solar-powered charging benches at the top of the cable car summit station. The best part is you can not only use it for sitting but also charge your phones if your battery is dying. Isn't that great?
  • Be extremely careful if you are looking to drive to the top of the mountain. It's just a one lane road with traffic on both sides.
  • You can pick some lovely souvenirs on your way back from the shop at the upper station so that you have something to remember.
  • A great place for gatherings and meetings.
  • Savour good food at the summit in the company of loved ones.
