Presumptuously lying just off the Dalmatian Coast, on the Adriatic is the beautiful hilly Island of Korcula. It is said that a Trojan hero originated this fantasy-world Island surrounded by godly-shiny waters that fade into a deep blue sea, giving birth to a whole new dream. The island is a paradise destination that will bring your year-round desires to fruition: folkloric festivals, vibrant beaches, historic sites, exquisite cuisine, fishermen capturing their "catch of the day', colorful boats strolling around the coast and breathtaking sunsets.
It is 149 km away from the city center.
The best way to reach there is hiring a Taxi as there are no ferries available in this place and you can enjoy beautiful views.
Taxi Fare: 80 HRK
Hire a car and do this as an independent day trip.
Take the bus to Vela Luka from Korcula town. This is about as far as you can ride anyway, it takes about an hour, but passes through several villages en-route. So you can decide which village is worth a return visit later.
The island is beautiful, no high speed cars due to the terrain, so even walking is safe enough.
The ONLY bus out of there leaves at 06.45 a.m. so remember to take an alarm clock!!
