Rector’s Palace is all about architectural and historical insights. It has private chambers and public halls which speak to the greatness of centuries and times past. The ornate staircase in the atrium is as impressive today as it was many centuries ago, despite its age. You will find many of the sculptures designed by Milan’s renowned sculptor Pietro de Martino. Pietro was also responsible for designing the columns of the palace porch, which still stands strong. History buffs will truly enjoy exploring the other areas of the palace as well which includes the armory, prison, watch-house, and the powder magazine. Do not miss out on the jewelry collection, medieval artifacts which indeed is an inspiration for the city’s glorious past.
Rector’s Palace is located between Town Hall and the Cathedral on Pred Dvorom in Old Town Dubrovnik. Old Town is a pedestrian-only area, so if you are driving, you can park outside the city and then walk or take a bus to the Old Town gates.
