Rafael Núñez was a famous politician, poet, and lawyer and the country's President on four occasions. His role in Colombian history cannot be overstated — he wrote the country's 1886 constitution, and also wrote the Colombian national anthem. Casa de Rafael Núñez is a mansion that was once his home. You can easily reach the place by a three-minute walk from the Walled City in El Cabrero. The beautiful white and green mansion was built in 1858, and today it is an open museum where you can see Rafael Núñez's documents and personal possessions including ancient furniture, amazing paintings, and art. There is a chapel, Ermita del Cabrero, just opposite the museum, where the ashes of Núñez and his wife rest. This is a place of interest for history buffs. The building has a rustic charm and everything about it has a grace of the old-world. You will surely enjoy a few hours spent here.
