Established in 1982, the museum is housed in a large Colonial building, and is dedicated to the indigenous Zenu people. This museum is a fine example to showcase the craftsmanship of the ancient people. Also, it shows the importance of gold during the historic times. There are more than 500 gold pieces and numerous carvings that have been displayed among which the pre-Hispanic golden jaguar and a gold filigree butterfly are the highlights.You can discover the body painting skills and textile traditions of the Zenú from the many exhibits. The museum also showcases La Epoca Hidráulico, Zenú people's excellent hydraulic engineering feat that is around 2,500 years old.
