Ancient and iconic, it is a Buddhist temple surrounded by jungle with trees growing from its ruins. The temple has huge silk trees growing out of its walls and structures, which makes it an amazing and must-see sight to visit. It was built by a king from India, Ram Verma. The walk through the jungle of trees strangling the ruins shows the force of nature creating its own pathways. There are many depictions of scenes from Buddhist mythology in the temple walls. The famous film "Tomb Raider" was shot here and these are the most photographed trees in the world.
The temple is 13km from the city center. One can hire taxis, motorbikes, bicycles, tuk-tuks or tour buses. One can take a minibus tour for the temples around Siem Reap. Motorbikes are also available for hire by tourists. Another option is to hire a tuk-tuk and one can find plenty of drivers waiting.
