The city was built during the 12th century and is known for its temples and southern towering gate. It is walled from all sides with a number of temples. It was the last and most enduring capital city of Cambodia. It has 2,016 faces smiling at the visitors made of sandstone and laterite. There are detailed carvings on the walls depicting the ancient times when rituals were practiced. It 11 km from the city center. One can hire taxis, motorbikes, bicycles, tuk-tuks or tour buses. Metro and local train services are not available in Siem Reap. Local buses stop only at their stations so tourists can book tour buses for 1-day tours or as suitable. Taxis can be hired for a full day at the cost of $ 30 for a full day for 2 people. Tuk-tuks can be hired for a full day at the cost of $13 to $16 and can accommodate 4 people. Motorbikes cost for a full day range $3 to $10 and are easily available across the city.
