To the Brazilians, football is not just a sport, but also a way of life and a religion which is practised with high fervour. The Football Museum in Sao Paulo is a historical museum and a temple for the fans of the sport, which is housed inside the magnificent Pacaembu Stadium. The Museum aims to showcase football in its multiple aspects of life and society and its importance in the cultural expression in Brazilian history in the last two centuries. Visit the Pacaembu Stadium before entering the museum, which was built in 1940, one of Brazil’s oldest and well-conserved soccer stadiums. One of the most interesting exhibits is the Sala das Copas do Mundo, a large multimedia exhibit that shows each edition of the soccer World Cup, from 1930 till date with info, videos, photographs and trivia. The photo gallery and the section dedicated to the fans attract huge crowd too.
You may take a bus from the city centre to get to the place, like 408A-10 and get down in R. Alagoas. The yellow metro line has its nearest station in Higienópolis-Mackenzie which is 1.2 km away from the place.
