Muela del Diablo is a monolithic rock structure of 150 meters high and ideal for hiking to experience incredible views of La Paz and the valley. It stands out in the landscape of the southern area of La Paz, on the outskirts of the city. It has the shape of tooth which is the reason for its name. It is the solidified core of an extinct volcano, the rest of which has eroded or washed away. The attractive viewpoint starts from the Pedregal area; ascending to the top with a unique view of the city and its surroundings. This place has plenty of low shrubs and there are some birds. From Muela, there are two options to return back, continue walking across the ridges of the mountain down to the Rio Choqueyapu before climbing the other side of the valley to the small villages of Mallasa or Jupapina. The latter option will take around six hours. At the base of the Muela, one can rest or enjoy the picturesque vistas. A visit is recommended most times of the year, except in the rainy season.
