Known for Inca sites and sites and ruins, the Isla del Sol is a rocky island at the end of Lake Titicaca. It’s a perfect place if you want to take a break from your hectic and monotonous life.
According to Inca mythology, the island and the lake are the birthplace of the world and the Sun as well. The way to get to the island is to take a boat from Copacabana. There are half-day and full-day tours available. Alternatively, get dropped off and stay for a few days to enjoy the beauty of the island. The only way to get around within the island is by walking or renting a donkey. There are no cars or other means of transport.
Your visit can be productive and peaceful at the same time. Explore the island with nature hikes, treks, boat rides and many more. Don’t be surprised if this turns out to be your favourite holiday experience. The laidback life of the island will be a welcome contrast to the hustle of city life. Explore and discover amazing viewpoints, hiking trails and of course the Inca ruins. Soak in the local culture and tradition and sample some of the exotic local cuisines.
