Tran Quoc Pagoda is the oldest Buddhist temple in Hanoi, standing for more than 1500 years. it is located on a small island near the southeastern shore of the West Lake. Tran Quoc Pagoda was originally named as “Khai Quoc”, which translates into “opening a country”. The pagoda is surrounded by beautiful, lush greenery. The Buddhist structure is not just visually impressive, it encompasses peace and serenity too. It has served as a relaxation spot and place of reverence for Vietnam's royalty for hundreds of years. The pagoda mainly consists of a small museum with a remarkable collection of artefacts and documents dating back to thousands of years. The worshipping statue “Thích ca thap niet ban”, is considered to be one of the most beautiful statues in Vietnam.
It is 5.3 km away from the city center.
The best way to reach the Pagoda is by taxi. You can also take bus #50 which drops you in front of the Pagoda or you can take bus #31, 41, 55A, 55B and get off at stop An Duong which is a 5-minute walk from the Pagoda.
