About Imperial Citadel of Thang Long

Located in the heart of Hanoi, the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long is an outstanding UNESCO World Heritage Site. It comprises of two sections -the archaeological site and the central axis of the Nguyen Dynasty's Citadel of Hanoi. These create an integrated heritage complex. The monuments in Nguyen Dynasty's Citadel include the Flag Tower, the South Gate, the Kinh Thien Palace Foundation, the Princess's Pagoda and the North Gate. The Citadel offers a vast array of archaeological artefacts and architectural relics. The archaeologists and historians will love the bronze coins and artefacts from all over Asia. This is a UNESCO site and the history stretches back to centuries. There are many ceramic artefacts that have been unearthed through the years and this is a must see place for all the history buffs and museum lovers.

How to reach

It is 3 km away from the city center.

You can reach there by buses Tuyen 22A, 45 and 50.

Bus Fare: 10,000 VND to 20,000 VND

  • Follow the guide map.
  • Do not walk on grass, break branches or pick fruits.
  • Park your motorbikes, cars, and bikes in the designated parking area, which is at 19C Hoang Dieu Street.
  • Wear comfortable shoes and walk around to explore well.
  • Photography is allowed inside.
  • Reach early to avoid last minute rush.
  • There is also a kid's park near the temple.
