The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum holds the embalmed remains of Ho Chi Minh; this larger than life granite structure stands in Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, Vietnam. It is here that Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence on September 2, 1945. Ho served as the Chairman of the Vietnamese communist party from 1951 to 1969, the year he passed away. Ho Chi Minh was so beloved that the Vietnamese people considered him as a "father" or "uncle."The construction of the mausoleum took 2 years. The square is comprised of an interesting mish-mash of grass patterns that look like a beautiful lattice. The embalmed body of Ho Chi Minh is preserved in the cool, central hall of the mausoleum. It is open to the public every day and one of the most visited places in Hanoi.
It is 4.2 km away from the city center.
Taxi is the best way to reach there. A few buses also stop at the nearby Le Hong Phong Road.
