The Statue of Liberty Monument(Liberty enlightening the world), a colossal neoclassical sculpture was given to the United States by France to celebrate the friendship between the two countries during the American Revolution. It was designed by the French sculptor, Frederic Auguste Bartholdi, and its metal framework was built by Gustave Eiffel.
It was dedicated on October 28, 1886. The Statue of Liberty has over the years been a symbol of the freedom and democracy of the United States. The copper monument near the New York City Harbour entrance has stood tall as millions of immigrants arrived in America. It is one of the world's most recognizable landmarks of New York.
