The heart of a city often beats with a ferocity like no other, and it cannot be truer as in the case of the French Quarters of New Orleans. This rich, colorful, and the upscale area is one of the most visited areas in the city, and for very good reason. Often times people get lost in the quarter, not directionally but emotionally, not wanting to leave and to just stick on by looking at one more mesmerizing attraction.
Due to the multitude of hotels and eateries, with an equally fair share of happening pubs and bars, it is safe to say that the French Quarters is a self-sustaining destination on its own. At the middle of the Quarter is a large and imposing cathedral, St. Louis Cathedral, which is the oldest cathedral in the entire country. The Cathedral, which has around 3 centuries worth of history within itself is one of the main attractions within the Quarter. The Jackson Square, which houses the aforementioned cathedral, forms the nerve center that keeps the Quarter going, and any visit to the Quarter must definitely include the two. That apart the Quarter boasts of a hip and throbbing nightlife full of tourist-friendly jazz clubs, Cajun eat-outs, and loud bars luring people with their powerful ales. Tourists can get their thrills by getting entertained by the street performers and pick up a delectable gourmet fare and worthy souvenirs from the adjoining streets.
